Nitrile rubber can tolerate short term dry running of the sealing lip. The operating temperature range without failure of nitrile rubber is 40 to +100 C. Not very durable
It took my dog less than 5 minutes to chew off one side of handle. The rest of the ball seems to be durable with him chewing and playing with it. Very disappointing since wanted to use the handle for tug a war with dog.
