Bristles are specially curved for shape retention. The handles have a green stained natural wood finish protected by four coats of lacquer. Mini Melissa shoes always deliver on cuteness (and comfort). That said, each pair seems to be slightly different in terms of sizing! We ordered a size 2 and found that it was a little bigger than a recent size 2 we'd ordered. Still worth it, just a heads up that this might be a better purchase in person when you can try on!
