Great new beginning
Format: Kindle
I didn't really care for the Krakoan era as a whole, and knowing how comics, especially the X-Men, go through cycles every few years, knew it wouldn't last.
I'm especially glad to see the somewhat bland logos go and the classic ones return.
I like this line up so far, especially the inclusion of the Juggernaut. I remember reading the comics years ago when he first switched sides, and was.disappointed when he went back to being bad.
I haven't read the concluding chapters of the Krakoan era yet, so seeing a "classic" version of the Beast is a little surprising since the last time I saw him he had turned into an evil piece of %#@+.
The story by Jed MacKay was interesting and entertaining, as I knew it would be. I've always enjoyed Ryan Stegman's art. Looking forward to more of this series and the other X-Men books, especially Uncanny X-Men.

More of the same
Format: Kindle
I haven’t read X-Men comics in years, but decided to dive back in as a supplement to all the Marvel Cinematic buzz. The plot seems like standard X-Men fare. The weakness of the comic medium, particularly for characters like the X-Men, is the holding pattern of the status quo that the characters are constantly suck in. I’m not sure if this series will deliver a clever twist on it yet. The dynamic they are setting up with the downtrodden Sentinel manufacturing town is interesting, as is the implicit aspiration of the X-Men to replenish the land itself.
I am enjoying the team composition and the gorgeous art. They decided to crucify Wolverine again and it looked cool as ever. Juggernaut’s costume, too, is incredibly drawn.

Great new beginning
Format: Kindle
This story hits all the right notes for a 1st issue, with new mysteries and new characters. Love the team, with stalwarts like Beast, Wolverine, and Cyclops. Looking forward to more!

Krakoa is gone, but a new era begins!
Format: Kindle
I was pleased to see this was not a reboot but a continuation in the aftermath of the Fall of the House of X. MacKay certainly started off this new run on the right foot, ending with intrigue and introducing potentially new big bads. Excited to throw my money at Marvel in the months to come.

FROM THE ASHES… ?
Format: Kindle
As a longtime comics enthusiast and certainly a faithful fan of Marvel’s mightiest man, there’s something left to be desired of the 70s into 80s era of X-MEN that marked its genius. Chris Claremont is legendary in his scope and his indelible style that helps make the X-Men something of flesh and bone that jumped off the page.
Unfortunately that hasn’t been properly passed, and the torch hasn’t landed in the hands of creatives who can really capture that spirit. It’s hard to recognize any of these characters, or connect with their situation. This group of X-Men and their mission (whatever it is) are uninteresting, uninspired and lacking any authenticity.
Interestingly written, the art has some textured, but the story isn’t engaging.
I really wanted to like and support this “all-new, all-different” direction, but I can’t. This is not for me.
