The NW2 was widely popular, with more than fifty Class 1 railroads purchasing more than 1,100 NW2's. They were also popular with industries, and several were purchased by the US Navy. The NW2's were EMD's new 12 cylinder, 567A prime mover. The NW2 was 44 feet long and equipped with the standard B B truck

This starter worked fine when installed. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating was fitment. the hole in the bell housing is slightly larger than the starter. The old starter, OEM, was a right fit. This puts all of the strain and torque of starting the engine on the two bolts that hold the starter in. I expect this to fail at some, hopefully, distant point in the car's future. In order to retorque the starter bolts, the battery and airbox have to be removed.
